British Columbia Racquetball Association Development ProgramThe BCRA Racquetball Development Program aims to support initiatives to bring new communities, players, and facilities into racquetball throughout BC.The Development Program hopes to build strong links between players, coaches, mentors, and racquetball leaders at the club, community, region, and provincial levels. For 2011, our program contains three major projects:
College Racquetball The College and University Racquetball Initiative is spearheading the development of a post-secondary network of racquetball clubs, coaching and training initiatives, and inter-collegiate competitions. In the spring of 2012, the inaugural College Racquetball Championships is planned to be held in conjunction with the Junior Provincial Championships in March in the Lower Mainland. During the fall of 2011, the aim is to set up Racquetball Clubs among current students, alumni, and faculty of post-secondary institutions around British Columbia. Duffer's Leagues Whether you've been away from racquetball since the days of the tiny racquets and tight shorts, or seen friends blasting away on the court and always wanted to give it a try, BCRA Duffer's Leagues have something for you. Over the next few months, we aim to start mixed leagues for new, newer, or returning players to get involved at their local club. Duffer's Leagues feature support from BCRA certified coaches who give FREE lessons and coaching during matches. We start with all of the basics, including safety, equipment, rules, court etiquette, and cover strokes, shots, and playing strategies. Thanks to generous donations from equipment manufacturers, like E-Force Racquetball, all the equipment you need is provided. Local clubs also offer drop in or other discounts for new players, and extremely reasonable League Fees. Regional Development Coordinators The BCRA Development Program seeks dedicated individuals to lead our initiatives at the local level throughout British Columbia. We are building a network of volunteers who inform and guide racquetball development with their local knowledge, skills, support, ideas, and talent. The Development Coordinators oversee initiatives within a given club or facility, community, or region of the province.
